About Our Trainer – Brandy Eggeman
My name is Brandy Eggeman, and I am the owner and operator of Citizen K9 Dog Training & Agility LLC, as well as a national award-winning author in canine training. I was born and raised in Wyoming, where my love for dogs began early. My mother owned a German Shepherd breeding kennel, and I grew up surrounded by working dogs and the foundations of proper training.
I proudly served in the United States military and am a military veteran. After my service, I built a career spanning over 30 years in dog training, working with a wide range of breeds and specializing in advanced behavior, obedience, and working-dog development.
I have more than 23 years of Search and Rescue experience with the State of Virginia and three years with Dartmoor Mountain Rescue in England. I am the only search and rescue trainer in the Hampton Roads region who has held state certification through the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM)—a distinction that requires the highest level of skill and professionalism. Throughout my SAR career, I have worked closely with law enforcement, state officials, and emergency agencies, where exceptional training standards are not optional but essential.
I train using positive reinforcement, as I believe dogs learn best through encouragement, confidence-building, and a clear bond with their handler. However, I also believe in fair and appropriate consequences for undesirable behavior. I often use the analogy of receiving a speeding ticket—it doesn’t harm you, but it certainly makes you think twice before repeating the behavior.
Over the years, I have trained and shown dogs in obedience, developed therapy dogs, worked Schutzhund dogs, and spent more than a decade training pet dogs and resolving complex behavioral cases. I also work with Virginia German Shepherd Rescue, Norfolk SPCA and other rescue organizations to rehabilitate dogs with behavioral issues so they can become successful, lifelong family companions. Along the way, I became a published and nationally recognized award-winning author for my dog training book.
After many years training in Virginia, I have now returned home to Riverton, Wyoming, where I am excited to offer my services to families, working-dog handlers, and local organizations throughout the region. With more than 30 years of experience in numerous aspects of dog training, it would be my pleasure to put my extensive knowledge to work for you.
